June 26,
2015 Dear
Hiring Manager, I have specialized in the telecommunications and
electronics industry responsible for Project Management, Systems Engineering,
Network Operations and Customer Training. With over twenty-five years
experience involving various telecommunications services, electronic hardware
and software programs, supporting commercial applications, municipalities and
government agencies. During my career I have managed a team of engineers and
technicians while completing projects on time, satisfying customer
expectations and exceeding company goals. In addition to systems design and
manufacturing, my responsibilities include engineering and maintenance of
network infrastructure: Wi-Fi, microwave, VSAT satellite, terrestrial
antennas, cable, fiber, land mobile radio and associated support facilities
providing voice, data and video. My
most recent engineering project was for the Veterans Administration
headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida. This involved designing a secure
private RF network incorporating an electro-mechanical auto-deploy VSAT and
wireless access points with extended distributed antennas. The network serves
as the primary emergency Internet connection providing VoIP, Data, Video
Teleconferencing and Wi-Fi supporting their Emergency Operations Center
conference room and the network operations staff. I
have directly supported NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi designing a
Tactical Wireless Emergency Broadband communications system providing VoIP,
Data, Video and Wi-Fi via VSAT satellite and terrestrial WAN services. Some
of my accomplishments involved engineering and managing similar projects
throughout the United States for federal agencies such as; Department of
Homeland Security, the US Coast Guard and FEMA, supporting the recovery
efforts from the hurricanes of 2004-05, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the
mid-west tornadoes of 2011. In
addition to emergency networks I have engineered and deployed several fixed
public wireless networks in Florida to include: the City of Sanford business
redevelopment Wi-Fi project, a private Wi-Fi network for Lake Mary
Preparatory School, in Lake Mary a 7.5 mile MESH test network, a MESH
security surveillance system for Red Tail Country Estates and Cranes Roost
Uptown Altamonte construction sites. Including an Enterprise Business
Solution (Wi-Fi, VoIP, PBX/router, Cisco switches) for several local offices.
During
my eighteen years as General Manager/Systems Engineer for Heathrow
Cable/Telecommunications, I was responsible for employee management,
engineering, operations, vendor negotiations and FCC compliance from the
satellite Headend to the customer premise. The network provided service to
million dollar residential homes, small and large businesses such as the
American Automobile Association national headquarters. Heathrow was one of
the first Fiber-To-The-Home projects, including the first central Florida
Smart House project using home automation technology, including DWDM for
simultaneous voice, data, video and ISDN. I was personally assigned all
responsibilities to build out and upgrade the HFC system, which later
resulted in a very profitable sale of the cable company to Bright House
Networks in 2004. While
serving my country in the United States Air Force, I worked on several
aircraft electronic/electro-mechanical launch systems, graduated Honor
Graduate in my field and was later offered an instructor QC position during
my four year term of service. I am proud to have served my country as an
Honorable Discharged Veteran and I’m sure I will not have a problem obtaining
a security clearance for any position if required. In addition to maintaining
a home office, I am available to travel as needed and live within minutes of
three airports; Sanford, Daytona and Orlando International. I
have included my LinkedIn address and I encourage you to review my project
pictures and the numerous commercial, state and federal agencies I have
supported with communications infrastructure, systems and training. I enjoyed
the work I performed and the multitude of customers I supported over the
years, recently with my last position as Manager of Engineering and
Manufacturing at F4W Inc. Unfortunately, due to the last government shut down
in 2013 and the budget cuts within several state agencies, this impacted the
industry and F4W. The internal financial hardship deterred many employees,
nonetheless a few of us held on the last two years, long as economically
possible. Today
I'm excited and looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the
success of a new team. I enjoy managing new projects and have always
maintained an enthusiastic attitude in my profession. I’m certain that with
my knowledge of electrical /mechanical /electronics engineering and project
management skills, I would be a tremendous asset to your organization. Sincerely,
Michael
